Concordium Grants & Investments

Purpose

The private family office of Lars Seier Christensen, Chairman of the Concordium Foundation, has decided to allocate an investment pool of initially EUR10m to projects and use cases building on the Concordium blockchain.

There is a wealth of young entrepreneurs with great ideas for what blockchain technology can be applied to in the future and Seier Capital wishes to expand its exposure to these companies of the future.

The new pool of EUR10m is dedicated primarily to helping new projects get off the ground and accelerate projects and/or incentivize them to migrate to and use the unique ecosystem and features of the Concordium blockchain.

The money will be allocated both as grants and investments to projects choosing to build on Concordium.

Investments

There are three primary ways to apply for support from the Seier Capital allocation.
investments-1investments-2investments-3

Start-up grants of EUR 5,000-50,000

These grants will be offered to develop promising ideas and projects to a seed capital or MVP level and to help students and young entrepreneurs testing their vision in real life. Grants will be released according to an agreed project delivery schedule. The process for achieving a grant is simple and quick. In return, Seier Capital will receive a possibility of converting the grant to equity at the seed round of the project.

Form of grant:
Grant is distributed as decided by the Investment Committee. i.e.
  • 1/3 upon presentation of an approved project deck.
  • 1/3 upon launching the project MVP on Concordium testnet.
  • 1/3 upon launching BETA project on Concordium mainnet.
Option:
The investment committee will consider the following:
  • Possibility of converting the grant to equity at the seed round of the project.

Investments up EUR100,000

This will be offered to projects raising their first round of investment in return for equity or token stake.

The form of investment is negotiable and will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

Any recipient of grants or equity/token-based investments will have access to Seier Capital’s deep expertise and experience in blockchain and our large network in the industry, as well as access to technical resources and support.

Larger investments on EUR100,000+

A project already building on or migrating to Concordium can apply for Seier Capital’s participation in any fundraise and for any amount.

The form of investment is negotiable and will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

Separately, any company - with or without a grant or investment from Seier Capital - can apply directly to Concordium for a grant of either cash or CCDs (the native token on Concordium Blockchain). These grants and the approval process will be entirely at the discretion of The Concordium Grants Committee.

Alchemist

Transcending the concept of fine dining.

The main dining room at the immersive restaurant Alchemist.

In 2017, I heard about a new exciting restaurant in Copenhagen. I went to the small 15-seater bar, had 45 courses, and was blown away by the originality and the often controversial messages accompanying the dishes. I told the owner/chef Rasmus Munk that if he ever wanted to take this to the next level, I was in.

Shortly thereafter, we embarked on a massive project, creating a whole new, technology-based concept and two years later, we opened Alchemist in its second iteration. Despite a difficult start with the pandemic, the restaurant was successful from day one.

Alchemist now has two Michelin stars, is number 18 on the World’s Best Restaurants List, and currently has a waiting list of 35,000 guests.

Café Dan Turèll

An iconic place - Café Dan Turéll is back.

The mirrors, the beautiful French decor, the striking colour, the pinball machine and the jukebox, is what make Café Dan Turéll an iconic place.

When I went to high school, almost every night I and a small group of close friends went to this iconic bar. Opening in 1977, it was one of the first French-inspired cafes in Copenhagen, and completely different from the drab, brown bodega scene that dominated Copenhagen in the seventies. Cafe Dan Turell quickly became a favourite hangout of artists, musicians and journalists.

Named after the great Danish poet Dan Turell (the founder was his publisher), the cafe went downhill in recent years, and I bought it in 2019. After a complete renovation to bring back its former glory, the cafe is now again filled with lights, cocktails, 80s music and I often hang out there myself when in Copenhagen.

Concordium is a public-layer 1, science-backed blockchain, designed to balance privacy with accountability through its ID layer

I have followed the blockchain and crypto space for more than 10 years. Originally an enthusiastic ambassador for Bitcoin and Ethereum, I eventually became concerned about aspects hindering mass adoption, in particular anonymity, lack of scalability and a general mistrust of regulation.

Having been the co-founder and co-CEO of Saxo Bank for more than two decades, I became convinced that the same regulatory developments we experienced in TradFi would eventually also make their way to the crypto space. Therefore, I founded Concordium in 2018, a compliance-ready layer one blockchain that combines all the great features of a distributed, permissionless blockchain with a focus on ID and complying and accepting the general expectations of the society around us. Based on world-class cryptographic science, Concordium aims to become a leading layer one blockchain, providing true scalability, and a trustworthy and stable foundation for real business use.
